Art & Education Center

The GYCO Art & Education Center is where potential becomes opportunity. As a hub for creativity, learning, and leadership, the Center brings together young people, local businesses, artisans, and mentors to share knowledge, develop skills, and inspire new possibilities.

Through education, the arts, personal development, and entrepreneurship, we empower youth to build sustainable futures, strengthen their communities, and contribute to a more inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous Northern Uganda. Currently, we are focusing on four specialized programs:

Empowering the Youth with Creative Rug

One inspiring example is the Rug Production Project, supported generously by the Austrian company Simacek. Girls and young women learn how to make premium rugs using the specialized punch-needle technique.

Through this hands-on craft, they gain far more than technical expertise-they build internal confidence, structural teamwork, and the deep joy of transforming raw imagination into high-value tangible assets. The project also drives organizational sustainability: handmade rugs are sold directly to support GYCO's ongoing programs and operational costs, ensuring the ripple of impact continues permanently.

Agriculture & Environmental Management

We transform agriculture into a practical pathway for independent economic opportunity, climate resilience, and long-term sustainable growth.

Through climate-smart farming methodologies, environmental conservation frameworks, and strategic field training, young people gain the vital tools to improve immediate household food security, generate consistent market income, and proactively protect the natural ecosystems their local communities rely on.

Health & Psychosocial Support

Young people navigating post-conflict communities frequently face complex structural trauma, gender-based violence, early pregnancies, and systemic barriers to health information.

Through customized sexual and reproductive health training, accessible mental health support frameworks, and systematic community outreach programs, we guide youth to make informed, healthy choices, rebuild internal resilience, and safely upgrade their overall well-being. One vital focus area is comprehensive Malaria prevention education.

Governance

Building Ethical Leaders & Strong Communities

We empower young minds and grassroots community figures with the baseline knowledge, structural skills, and public confidence to lead with accountability.

Through structured leadership alignment, civic development modules, governance training, and continuous field engagement, we catalyze an emerging generation of authentic changemakers fiercely committed to human rights, institutional transparency, and inclusive local growth. By strengthening both individuals and regional civic bodies, we lay the infrastructure for lasting social advancement.
